News and events

It's that time of the year

With November upon us, we are heading for quite a busy time of the year for Bandspeople. Next Saturday we again participate in the annual Remembrance Day Service at Loyalty Square, Balmain. Over the years this service has been increasing in popularity.

On Wednesday the 15th of November the Citizenship Ceremony for Inner West Council will be held at Ashfield.

To get you in the mood, we will be holding a Christmas Concert on the 26th of November. A number of young players will be invited to attend and will get the chance to play along with LCB players. Afternoon tea will be available, and of course, we'll have a Christmas hamper raffle packed with yummy goodies.

It should be a fun afternoon, and all we ask for is a gold coin donation at the door.

Our long held tradition of participating in two major Carols functions continues this year, with Carols for the People at Engadine, and Carols on the Common at North Ryde.

Get well soon, David

Solo cornet player, David Young has been recently hospitalized and is recovering from surgery. We wish you all the best for your recovery David!

Vale Brian

Life member of LCB, Brian Dewberry was farewelled last Friday the 11th of August. Brian had been ill for a very long time. John, our secretary was one of the speakers, and told the congregation of Brian's dedication, enthusiasm and organisational prowess, basically single handedly making arrangements for several international and local band tours. Other speakers told of his sense of humour and ability to overcome quite significant obstacles in his life.

The photo below was taken at Brian's retirement dinner in 2009 when he was presented with a lifetime membership award.

Welcome back

It's great to have Rae back with the baton after his trip to the UK. Thanks to all those that helped keep things going in Rae's absence.

Versatile Brass concert

Members of the band a great time performing to a very appreciative audience, judging from the  that came back at us. Many people commented on how enjoyable and varied the program was, which is the very point we were trying to get across!
Here is a happy snap of the horns about to play.
Happy horn section!
